Waikato companies keen to break into the UK market are being encouraged to enter a new UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) business plan competition.

Opportunity Hamilton business development manager Adrian Dixon said the Go UK competition is a chance for New Zealand companies to win one of three business support packages provided by UKTI.

“Like they say, you have to be in to win and this is an excellent business prize package, especially for businesses interested in the UK market,” Adrian said.

Opportunity Hamilton, the city’s economic development agency, is keen to hear from, and offer support to, businesses entering the competition.

“If they want someone to look over their business plan or discuss anything before they enter we would be happy to meet with them,” Adrian said.

The Go UK prize package is valued at about $32,000 and includes British Airways return airfares to London, meetings with potential business partners, client contacts, business networks, company formation and employee support services and on-going UKTI support to expand to the UK, Europe and the world.

Participants can submit their business plan online at www.ukinnewzealand.fco.gov.uk. Entries close on February 3 and finalists announced later that month. Package winners will be announced early in March.
